Meet Gretta

Hi everyone!

My name is Gretta and I am the head blogger, head presenter and founder of ‘On Our Own Tracks’.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree which I completed at Western Sydney University in 2019. This degree specialises in cultural and social analysis and minors in English and Aboriginal affairs. I am a motivational speaker and am always looking for speaking opportunities. As the main blogger and founder of this site, my writing explores the hidden parts of our society including the disability sector. I have felt that a blog like this has been needed for a long time now. I have severe Cerebral Palsy myself and have noticed that there is little information out there that provides an unbiased telling of a wide variety of stories of how people are making a difference in our community whether it’s in their own lives or in others’.

Further inspiration for this blog came from watching documentaries on people with disabilities living in third world countries and hearing stories from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants. I decided that they really needed their stories to be heard and also wanted them to know that they are not alone.

One reader described my work as “inspirational and informative” because they saw heart in my writing. Another described it as being raw because I write from my own experiences and values, as well as being open to others opinions. You can find examples of my work in ‘The Disability Links Magazine’ and on the ‘Northcott Disability Services’ website. You may also be interested to know that my writing, designs and the ‘On Our Own Tracks’ website has been created and maintained through me using my IPAD with my nose.

When I’m not blogging you can find me Checking out my local community and hanging out with my family and friends

Thanks for reading
